As a new season is upon us for the Sixers, we all agree that this is the most excited we’ve felt for this team in a long time. For the first time in a while, the city of Philadelphia feels as though they could have a championship team on their hands. Below are the Yellow Jacket Media staff predictions for the 2019-2020 Sixers season.
Out of all the Sixers seasons in recent memory, this one is carrying the most excitement to it. There was a lot player movement in the offseason and now we’ll see if they were able to develop quick chemistry.
The biggest acquisitions for the team was Al Horford signing in free agency and trading for Josh Richardson. They also retooled the bench in drafting Matisse Thybulle, and signing Trey Burke, Raul Neto, and Kyle O’Quinn.
This team has a clear defensive identity, and scoring shouldn’t be a problem with the starters on the floor. It’s going to come down to health. If Embiid and Horford can both stay healthy this team will do very well. They can (and will) become the East’s elite if we see progression from Ben Simmons and Tobias Harris.
Everyone is picking them to win the east, and I will too. It’s time to start making deep postseason runs. It’s Finals or Bust.
There is major excitement for the start of the NBA Season. As the Sixers go up against their rivals, the Boston Celtics, in the first game of the season, there is more than just some pent up feelings going on. There is an electricity surrounding this team. There is a hopeful excitement that this really could be the season that they win it all.
There are a few things that I’m predicting for this season. First, I think the Sixers will go 59-23. I don’t think that’s giving them the benefit of the doubt either. I legitimately think they are that good.
Next, I think the Sixers will have two All-Star Defense players on their team and will have the best defense in the league. If Joel Embiid stays healthy, he’ll play the most games of his career and will definitely be one of the Defensive All-Stars. The other person will show themselves through the season.
Lastly, I think Matisse Thybulle will make first-team All-Rookie. He’s going to have a lot of steals and is going to be an overall good guy for this team. I think this is a good title he’s going to have because I believe he’ll put up a lot of big stats this upcoming season.
Joel Embiid will be a finalist for NBA Defensive Player of the Year and Ben Simmons will make 30 three-pointers. Matisse Thybulle will be a finalist for Rookie of the Year.
